As its September now, my gap year is coming to an end. Typically, I've left uni applications to very late. Sometimes I wish applying were as easy and googling the places you're interested in. But I figure i need some more skills before applying to uni. So today I tried learning something I'd been meaning to learn all year!
I tried to learn how to use Adobe Flash. Its probably the most challenging thing I've tried in a long time. My goal was to learn how to program a button that when you clicked with your mouse, it would take you to the next frame. Probably the most basic of functions on flash.
I think my biggest problem was not being able to understand what each function did. I was following a step by step tutorial I found online. Although it told me what to do with each step, it didn't explain in detail why I needed to do the step.
For example, I kept having to convert the frame into a keyframe or a blank keyframe. I'm still unsure as to what a keyframe is and the difference between a blank keyframe and a keyframe. I also don't know why its important but I am sure it is. =S
But despite that, the tutorial was still very helpful. I think I just need to get the hang of it. So I'll try again later.
Aside from that, I found an old drawing I started this year and I decided to finish it today. To be honest... its not a very good drawing... at all. But I figure my portfolio needs some expanding and I could use some more colouring practise. Here's a preview of the final product ~ FYI its Captain Jack Harkness
I'm feeling productive today! I think its time to learn how to make wedding cake icing :)
